How we use AI

Built by people. Sped up by AI. Found on Google and ChatGPT.

We use AI inside our engine every day. It’s why we can quote under the typical NZ agency range and why a free preview can land in five working days. Here’s exactly what it does, what it doesn’t, and how we make sure your business shows up when customers ask an AI for a recommendation.

  • Every word approved by a human
  • Training turned off on your data
  • AI-search readiness in every plan

The split

What the machine does, and what the person does.

AI does

The slow, repetitive parts

  • Research: your market, your competitors, what people search in your town
  • First drafts of copy, which a person then rewrites in your voice
  • Code review, accessibility checks and performance testing
  • Generating layout options for us to choose between
  • Monitoring rankings, ads and site health so nothing slips
People do

The parts that need judgement

  • Talking to you and understanding what you actually sell
  • Deciding what your site should say and in what order
  • Design: the look, the feel, the taste
  • Every final sentence, every approval, every launch
  • Answering the phone when you call

What it means for you

Three practical outcomes, no hype.

  • Better work, sooner

A homepage preview in five working days. Most business websites live within a month. The waiting-around that used to be built into agency timelines is gone.

  • Quotes under the NZ average

A five-to-eight page business website from a NZ agency typically runs $3,990–$8,000 (Fuel Design NZ pricing guide, 2026). We come in under that because we stopped charging for the slow bits, not because we cut the care.

  • Not left behind

55% of Kiwi AI users use it inside search engines, the single most common use (InternetNZ Aotearoa Internet Insights, 2025). We build every site to be readable and quotable by AI assistants as well as Google, so when a customer asks ChatGPT for a recommendation, your business has every reason to be the answer.

Our rules

What we will and won’t do with AI, in writing.

  • Nothing ships unread. Every sentence on your site is read, edited and approved by a person before you see it, and again before it goes live.
  • No fake anything. No invented testimonials, no generated reviews, no stock “team” photos. If it isn’t real, it isn’t on your site.
  • Your data stays yours. Business-grade tools, training switched off, and no customer data in any AI system. Ever.
  • We’ll tell you. Ask how any piece of work was made and you’ll get a straight answer.
  • Taste is human. AI can generate a hundred layouts. Choosing the right one for a family law firm is a person’s job.
  • We keep learning. The tools change monthly. Part of what you pay for is that we keep up so you don’t have to.

Straight answers

AI questions, answered honestly.

Will my website be generated by AI?

No. Your website is designed and written by people. AI drafts, researches, tests and checks along the way, much as a good junior speeds up a senior. Every design decision and every published sentence is made or approved by a person who has spoken to you.

Is AI-written content bad for Google?

Google’s own guidance is that it rewards helpful, accurate, original content regardless of how it was produced, and penalises thin, generic content regardless of how it was produced. Our rule is simpler: if it reads like a machine wrote it, it doesn’t ship.

Do you use my business information to train AI?

No. We use business-grade tools with training turned off, and we don’t put your customer data into any AI system.

Why should I care about AI search?

79% of New Zealanders used AI in the past year, and 58% use it at least weekly (InternetNZ Aotearoa Internet Insights, 2025). When they ask an AI who to call, it reads websites, reviews and directories to decide. Businesses that are clear, consistent and well-reviewed get recommended. Everyone else is invisible in a channel that didn’t exist three years ago.

Can you help my business use AI?

Yes, sensibly. Answering common enquiries, drafting quotes from a form, review requests, summarising jobs from a voice note. We use these tools daily so we know what’s useful and what’s hype. More on that here.
