A builder’s website that gets him compared with architects, not with the cheapest quote.

High-end residential builders lose the job before the first meeting when their website looks like every other trade site. The work was premium. The web presence wasn’t saying so.

Where it started

The brief

Matthew works on architectural homes and high-end residential builds, from small alterations to full new homes. That market makes a judgement about competence almost instantly, and it makes it on the strength of the photography and the restraint of the design.

The problem with most builder websites isn’t that they’re ugly. It’s that they are indistinguishable. A homeowner comparing three builders on a large project can’t tell them apart, so the decision defaults to price.

What we did

Four decisions that made the difference.

  • Let the buildings do the talking

A dark, architectural interface with large-format project photography. The design gets out of the way so the steel, glazing and detailing carry the credibility.

  • Put the range in the headline

“From small alterations to high-end architectural builds” sits in the hero. It tells the right client they’re in the right place and saves everyone else a phone call.

  • Made the work browsable

Projects are structured so a prospective client can find something like their own job. That is the single most persuasive thing a construction website can do.

  • Kept the path to enquiry short

Clear services, obvious contact points, no quiz. Someone planning a large build wants to talk to a builder, not complete a funnel.

Where it landed

The result

Matthew now has a site that matches the standard of the finished homes and positions him against design-led builders rather than the cheapest quote in the district. Fewer tyre-kickers; better conversations.

When your website looks like everyone else’s, the only thing left to compare is price.
